AAE Glass makes it easy with tutorials and supplies. I'd love to attend a workshop, but is not feasible at this time, so I do enjoy the educational videos, keep them coming.
I began expanding my jewelry making about 5 years ago and have now began to focus mainly on fused glass jewelry, rather than the former hodge podge I created. I do enjoy usings found opbjects, but most of my work is wire wrapped or bezel set in sterling silver.
I'm located in southwest Iowa and have a studio in our barn. Thus the name Barn Art Studio for my business. I sell on storeenvy.com http://www.barnartstudio.storenvy.com and post several of my pieces on the BarnArtStudioFacebook page associated with our personal pages, which is AndyandValAllen.
Message or email for more information as I will be beginning workshops again after the first of the year.Barn Art Studiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03411729519603715779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453219877931866660.post-21147243848941487262011-11-26T12:06:26.046-06:002011-11-26T12:06:26.046-06:00I've been enjoying your decals and email updat...I've been enjoying your decals and email updates for a while now. Tanya has been inspiring me for quite some time since I first discovered AAE glass. I enjoy watching her success as she expands to teach and inspire others in the world of glass. I know she most definitely inspires me!

As a Navy spouse, flexibility is a way of life that is a necessity every day. As an Occupational Therapist or as a glass artist my creativity is allowed to develop and blossom with time. As a full time home health occupational therapist, my studio time is pretty much limited to nights and weekends. I am constantly jotting down ideas for new creations as I am driving from one location to the next. Some of my inspirations arrive unexpectedly while others are planned... to some extent. Shapes, colors, designs, animals, buildings... you name it, I am inspired by it. Dan, high school sweetheart, love of my life and husband of 24 years is always coming up with new ideas to keep my creative juices flowing and new ideas growing.

My website, phdezign.com is currently under construction and I will soon have more details about my work, including jewelry and art for sale online. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send me an email at pam@phdezign.com Thanks and keep on fusing! I'm also starting wire wrapping and teaching myself silver smithing...(decals are sure easier!)

I'm a former High School art teacher and life long artist, currently working with fused glass! Although I love other mediums (watercolor, clay, pen and ink, airbrush, and stained glass are among some of my former favorites.) Glass has held my attention for around ten years. I love the surprise and suspense of opening the kiln door after eight hours...sort of like a mini-Christmas!

I hand cut, layer art glass with dichroic and fuse them together in my home studio kiln. Nothing is made from a mold. Most items have been fused and fired three times to 1600 degrees, then slowly annealed to make the piece durable and harden the glass. Each piece is unique, as you can never fully predict how the fused glass will react to the dichroic layer.

Dichroic glass consists of multiple ultra-thin layers of different metals (such as gold or silver); oxides of such metals as titanium, chromium, aluminium, zirconium, or magnesium; or silica are vaporised by an electron beam in a vacuum chamber. The vapor then condenses on the surface of the glass in the form of a crystal structure. A protective layer of quartz crystal is sometimes added. Other variants of such physical vapor deposition (PVD) coatings are also possible. The finished glass can have as many as 30 to 50 layers of these materials, yet the thickness of the total coating is approximately 30 to 35 millionths of an inch (about 760 to 890 nm). The coating that is created is very similar to a gemstone and, by careful control of thickness, different colors may be obtained.

The total light that hits the dicro layer equals the wavelengths reflected plus the wavelengths passing through the dichro layer. Due to variations in the firing process, individual results can never be exactly predicted, so each piece of fused dichroic glass is unique. It is this unpredictability that makes fusing glass so interesting..and beautiful!A.A.E. We have recently had the honor of contributing some of our artwork to the walls of the new AAE Glass Studio in Cape Coral, FL. Although we are not glass artists, we can really appreciate the work & detail that goes into creating pieces of glass art. From what we have seen so far, it appears that a lot of the prepwork & procedures needed to create a beautifully finished piece of glass art...are quite similiar to the steps we take to create a Mural or Faux-Finished Wall (blocking in colors, lots of layering, adding final details, etc.). We are very excited to be taking some of Tanya Roy Veits classes in the upcoming months, so we can really get a feel for the glass-art process. And, we want to say Thank You SO much again - to AAE Glass for including us in the opening of their AMAZING new studio! It will be no doubt - an incredible place to learn! My name is Ton...Hi and Happy Holidays to everyone,

My name is Tonya Nelson and I live in Pueblo, Colorado. I have been making jewelry for about three years and fusing glass for two. I am largely self taught which really just means I have made a lot of really ugly lumps of glass and made lots of mistakes. I missed Tanya's extreme fusing class when she was in Denver much to my regret. Hopefully I will catch her class in the future.

I am a nurse working in an emergency room so I was looking for a way to tie my passion to my professional life. I began making retractable badge reels decorated with dichroic fused glass pieces and I was thrilled when my co-workers loved them. I was even more excited when the men started wearing them.

I have to make a comment related to another's blog. If I would have realized the amount of photography skills posting on-line required, I would have taken a photography class! What a challenge taking pictures of dichroic glass has turned out to be! If anyone wants to send me any advice I would love to hear it. Send me a message on my artfire account.

You can find me at www.fivepackdesigns.artfire.com

Tanya and Mark I want to thank you for offering such great products and for giving us all the opportunity to post on this site.

TonyaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6453219877931866660.post-40820668027510117242011-11-24T09:24:19.821-06:002011-11-24T09:24:19.821-06:00Greetings!
