Updates at AAE Glass Art Studio

There have been some major changes and additions to the AAE Glass Art Studio and AAEGlass.com in the past month.  If you have had a chance to visit the studio and/or store in the past few weeks, you have had the first look at the upgrades.

The state of the art AAE Glass teaching facility and cold working shop has been broken in by Tanya Veit, Kate MacLeod and Amanda Taylor thus far, with The Crackle King set to make an appearance next week.  Glass artists are getting a one of a kind glass fusing experience from some of the best teachers on the continent and they are loving it, as are we.

We have also added several new products to AAEGlass.com in the last few weeks.  With the 10 crates of Bullseye sheet glass we received yesterday, we have added Bullseye rods, irids, frit & powder, streakies & collage, special production and more  Visit the studio to pick out your glass or purchase online and we will ship it to you.

17 new pinch bail designs have been added as well.  Tanya has used these quality pinch bails in her own work for years with much success.
Last, but not least, I would like to introduce our biggest addition Marley Mae Veit, born December 28th.  Molly and Marley are doing great and we want to thank everyone for the overwhelming support and well wishes.  It is big life events such as this that help us realize what a large family we have in the glass art community.  Thank you again and with your help, AAE Glass is primed to make 2014 the best year in glass fusing yet!

AAE Glass Silver Settings are Here, ALL of them!

Hello Glass fusers.  AAE Glass is happy to say, we have heard you loud and clear and we are happy to say we have every possible silver setting in stock as of today.  We have been working tirelessly to bring you the best fusing products on the market.

Many of these silver settings are used in Tanya Veit's Extreme Fusing line of classes, Breaking all the rules. It is named "breaking all the rules" because Tanya has a unique approach to glass fusing that you will not find anywhere else!  I can't stress that enough.  Tanya is self taught and has come up with ways to manipulate glass that no one else teaches.  These techniques, combined with a never before seen energy and the best quality glass fusing decals and settings create the perfect storm for you to expand your glass fusing knowledge like never before.  If you are ready to take the next step, these classes are an investment that will pay itself off 10 fold.  Read these testimonials of artists who have taken the next step.

AAE Glass will be announcing new teaching dates after the new year.  We have some of the best glass fusing teachers coming to our studio in Cape Coral, Florida in 2012, not to mention Tanya has some special classes up her sleeve that will not be taught anywhere but the AAE Glass studio.  If you can't make it to Cape Coral, Tanya will be traveling to a limited number of studios throughout the world in 2012 (Canada, London, Norway and the U.S.A.)

To all of the glass fusers who have supported AAE Glass from the beginning, THANK YOU.  Everything we do, we do with an eye towards helping you expand your craft.  Countless artists have conveyed that the silver settings have taken their glass art to the next level at art shows.  They not only sell out, but they leave with a list of custom orders and an arsenal of new clients looking to buy their glass art.  When you combine this with Tanya's unique layering techniques, you will set your glass art apart from everyone else at the art show.  This equals more sales.

If there is anything we can do to help you grow your business, simply email us at info@aaeglass.com and we will be happy to help.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.  Celebrate safely with family and friends this year.  We can't wait to share 2012 with all of you!

David Alcala of FXN Glass Presents Sand to Glass

David Alcala of FXN Glass is a glass artist that needs no introduction.  Tanya and I were lucky enough to meet David earlier this year and are honored to call him a friend.  His unique talent and experience combine to make him a leader in the glass world.  David lives and owns a studio in Monterey, California.  He shares the same passion as AAE Glass when it comes to always expanding our glass knowledge and bringing as many glass artists along for the ride as possible!

When meeting David for a few days this summer, we were able to discuss goals and how to achieve them.  Tanya and David talked for hours on how to utilize each others talents to help grow their own.  They shared both experiences and products with each other to "play" with.  The results have been tremendous.  If you ever have a chance to meet David, or better yet, learn from David, I highly recommend you take advantage.

David recently informed us that AAE Glass will have a part in his upcoming book!!!  It has been hard not to share the great news with everyone, but the time has come.  Click HERE to learn more about the book as well as view a video David put together about his book and his art. This is a must see!

With the utmost sincerity, we would like to thank David for taking the time to get to know AAE Glass, sharing his experiences with our new, up and coming business and for staying in touch these past few months.  We have learned invaluable information that we will lean on forever. We are excited to see all of the doors that open for David as a result of this book.

If you haven't heard about David Alcala's popular new glass product Flexi-Glass, be sure to click the link and learn more about it.  Any glass artist will fall in love instantly.

AAE Glass will be hosting David Alcala in April 2012, in Cape Coral, Florida.  He is a great teacher and an even better person.  Be sure to check back often for exact dates.  This class is sure to fill up fast.

AAEGlass.com is proud to feature dichroic glass artist/studio Preserve Glass Studio.  Preserve Glass makes some beautiful dichroic glass jewelry.  They have used our silver findings with their bracelets and have had great results.  If you are in the Rhode Island area, give them a call at 401-372-7021 or stop in to view their large collection of dichroic glass jewelry.  Here some info about the Preserve Glass Studio:

Preserve Glass Studio is a home studio in Saunderstown, Rhode Island that specializes in making handmade dichroic glass jewelry. Dichroic glass jewelry is made by fusing pieces and layers of dichroic glass in a kiln.

This type of glass is always stunning, changing its colors at different angles and depths. This makes each piece have a personality of its own! Dichroic glass jewelry is a real attention-getter. You will be amazed at the notice people take to this unusual and dramatic art glass. Each dichroic glass piece made in the Studio is unique and can never be duplicated in the same way again.

Ragsfest at Rainbow Artistic Glass in Omaha

AAEGlass would like to thank Dick Baines of Rainbow Artistic Glass and his family for opening up their studio and home to us this week in Omaha, Nebraska.  We really felt at home as we got to meet so many great studio owners and artists. We would also like to thank Joanna Vitale, president of RAGSfest and owner of Art Glass Connection for including us in such a great event, as well as all of the members who took us in and made us feel a part of their mission.

The vibe in the air this weekend was one of progressive thinking and helping the glass industry as a whole.  As stated previously, times are changing and the great retailers we met this weekend all saw that and shared ideas of how to grow the industry so everyone benefits, most of all the artists who choose to work with glass.

AAE Glass is proud to share the same vision of growing the glass world as a whole.  If we can work with forward thinking people to open doors for people to try working with glass, we all know they will love it. Keep up the great work and if there is anything we can do to help, please let us know.

Weekend with Ed Hoy's International

I wanted to share my experience this weekend with the great people at Ed Hoy's International. I was lucky enough to be invited to participate in a weekend devoted to new products and the glass industry as a whole.  Maria, Margarette and Ed himself, put on a fantastic event that not only showcased new products in the glass industry, but they also shared ideas on how to grow the glass industry as a whole.  They are on the right track to adapt and succeed with the constant changes glass artists are facing every day. Lets face it, times are changing and unless we change with them, there is a good chance we can fall by the wayside.  They are doing everything they can to provide both vendors and artists with the tools we need to succeed. I thank them for that.

Be sure to check out their website, if you haven't lately, and take a look at all the new products they are carrying.  If you have any questions their staff is prompt and courteous. You can email them at info@edhoy.com

P.S. If you met me (Mark) this weekend and I didn't offend you or leave a bad impression, leave me a note under the comment section here and say hi. If I did offend you...please move along.

AAE Glass Featured Artist Amy Simpson

AAE Glass is proud to feature glass artist Amy Simpson.  Amy has quite a bit of experience and has made glass fusing her art of choice.  With a well rounded background, Amy is able to apply extensive creativity and knowledge to her wearable glass art.  Thanks for sharing with us Amy. We wish you the best!
Here is a bit about Amy and her work.
I enrolled in a glass fusing course at my local community college five years ago.  Though I was already familiar with stained glass, the art of glass fusing intrigued me with the infinite possibilities it offered.  I have a background in painting and metal-smithing, but fused glass has since become my medium of choice.

The new techniques I learned after taking Tanya Veit's Extreme Fusing Workshop at Ed Hoy’s International broadened the spectrum of my design potential in a fantastic and exciting manner!  Previously, my designs were achieved by extensive layering and the incorporation of “boiled” glass.  The principles of hand etching Tanya teaches gave me the option to create my own images and to tweak my glass collages with elements that can’t be mass produced.  I feel that even the smallest pendant should be a showpiece…a miniature painting in glass, if you will.  Tanya’s Extreme Fusing Workshop helped me realize this belief to an even greater extent!
My work is sold at several boutiques and at 404 Main Gallery in Bloomington, IL, but I primarily sell at fine arts and crafts shows in Illinois.  Here is my CURRENT SHOW SCHEDULE.

Featured Artist Christine Wilson of Blu Dragonfly

Christine Wilson of Blu Dragonfly has been a friend of AAE GLASS for a long time.  She recently took Tanya Veit's Extreme Glass Fusing Workshop in Denver Colorado. These are 2 of the pieces she made.  She has several beautiful dichroic glass pieces in her ETSY STORE.   Take a moment to learn a little more about Christine and her dichroic glass art.

Here is a bit about Christine:

I originally started out making lampwork jewelry.  One day I decided to take a fusing glass class at a local studio to see what it was all about.  I was hooked and started creating fused glass jewelry in my home studio.  All the pieces are started from scratch – I cut out the glass and create the design using dichroic glass and custom-made frit combinations.  In some of my pendants I select a decal that best fits the colors in the pendant.  Some of the pieces require several firings.   My jewelry consists of earrings, barrettes, bracelets and pendants.  I have been buying my decals from AAE glass and was so excited when Tanya's Extreme Fusing Workshop was coming to Denver.  This is the best class I have ever taken and what I learned has expanded my horizons in the fusing glass jewelry arena!  I highly recommend this class to anyone who has the opportunity to take it.

I originally started giving my jewelry as gifts to family and friends as well as selling to my co-workers.  The jewelry grew in popularity and I set up an Etsy website - www.BluDragonfly.etsy.com.  My jewelry has been given as gifts all over the world.  I also do local art shows and craft fairs in Northern Colorado and the Denver area.

Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your process and business Christine.  We wish you much success in the future.

New Dichroic Scrap Packs at AAE Glass

Tanya arrived home from her workshops in Denver, at Bella Glass Studios, and put together some brand new 90 coe and 96 coe dichroic scrap packs.  This new shipment of glass was hand picked and combined by Tanya.  This is the same glass she uses in her workshops as well in her own dichroic glass jewelry.

The feed back on Tanya Veit's Extreme Glass Fusing Workshop has been phenomenal.  Even though Tanya divulges several tips and tricks in her workshop, the most common comments we have received are "I didn't think I could have so much fun while learning about glass fusing." and "I have a new passion for glass fusing that I haven't had in years."  This workshop not only teaches you the ins and outs of glass fusing at a high level, but you also get to meet other great artists and have a blast for 2 or 3 days.  This is a workshop like no other.

Be sure to check out our single decals and decal sheets as well as our popular silver findings.  This blog has several tutorials to help you along with any aspect of glass fusing. We will also be adding new tutorials as time goes on.

Have a great day and we look forward to meeting you in the future.

Phused By Phyllis

PHUSED BY PHYLLIS

Phyllis Berger Haines has been fusing glass for over 8 years.  I have enjoyed talking and sharing information with Phyllis for a couple years now.  I finally got to meet her, in person, at my "Extreme Glass Fusing Workshop."  The link to her shop is above.  She has a great range of glass art and jewelry.  The 2 pieces pictured above were started at the workshop and perfected in her studio.  Phyllis has an uncanny thirst for fused glass knowledge.
It is students like Phyllis that make teaching these workshops fulfilling.  She isn't afraid to try new techniques and she won't quit until she nails it.

Great work Phyllis.

There are still a few new glass fusing decal images available at AAEGlass.com.  We are always coming up with new glass fusing decal designs, as well as other products that have proven to be beneficial.  If you have any jewelry pieces you would like to share, email me a picture at info@aaeglass.com.

Have a great day!
