Those of you who have recently taken a workshop at the AAE Glass Art Studio are aware of Tanya's affinity towards her sandblaster. She is growing closer to it everyday. In being Tanya, she immediately contacted IKONICS imaging and asked to speak with Darin Jones, who sold her the sandblaster in Las Vegas last year. Darin is an expert in the field of sandblasting and Tanya was able to convince him to come to Cape Coral, Florida and give FOUR sandblasting workshops! They can be taken individually or as a series.
Darin's job is to be good at sandblasting and as we found out, Darin is real good at his job! He travels the world teaching sandblasting to corporations and artists alike. If you have been on the fence about pursuing sandblasting of any kind, any one of these classes will give you a great feel for the art. Several pieces will be produced by each student.

Glass Cutting Contest at Las Vegas Glass Craft Expo
This fun contest will be held on Friday, April 5th from 5:00 to 6:00pm on the show stage in the Exhibit Hall at the 2013 Las Vegas Glass Craft Expo.
AAE Glass has donated a gift certificate for one of the lucky winners. There are several great prizes up for grabs in this contest. Contact Charlene at 907-333-7207 or charleneupnorth@aol.com for more information on how to enter. There are some great glass artists who contribute to this blog, I would love to see one of you win a great prize.
The Glass Cutting Contest is free and open to everyone. Each participant is provided a pattern, clear glass, and a 4-minute time limit. Judging is based on the accuracy of the cuts completed. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the Beginner and Advanced categories. (See page 86 in this year's show book for the half-page ad announcing the contest.)
In addition to the two traditional categories mentioned above, there will be the "Super Pro Category". These invited participants (instructors and vendors) will be cutting glass pieces from an exclusive peacock pattern designed by Lisa Vogt as quickly as possible with encouragement from the audience. These pieces will be assembled, fused and then auctioned on Sunday. The Super Pro Category will also have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places plus we will use an "Applause Meter" to determine the most entertaining Super Pro. Be sure to come and watch the contests and cheer all the contestants on!
