Featured Fused Glass Artists Eugenia and Gary Olson of BDI Designs Studio

Master fused glass artist Tanya Veit teaches dozens of classes and workshops each year, at the AAE Glass Art Studio in Cape Coral, Florida.  Hundreds of eager glass artists come from around the world to get a first class experience at Florida's hottest glass fusing studio.  Not only does Tanya teach unique techniques that glass artists can build upon and create glass art they didn't know was possible, but students are also treated to marketing and business advice to help grow their businesses.  There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a glass artist parlay the techniques they learned into a successful business and there is no greater example of this than Eugenia and Gary Olson of BDI Designs Studio. 

Eugenia and Gary traveled to Florida from the great northwest and they wore their passion for fused glass art on their sleeves. Like sponges, they soaked up everything Tanya had to offer and they immediately had ideas churning in their heads of how they could apply these new techniques to their growing business.  They have submerged themselves in fused glass art and have made quite a name.  So much so, that Eugenia was featured on KATU channel 2 AM Northwest.  The Olson's, always being proactive, submitted a fused glass piece to a facebook contest and received more than double the votes from the public than the next closest fused glass artist.  AM Northwest saw this and decided they wanted to feature them on TV for their holiday gift segment. The Olson's focused on art shows mostly to sell their fused glass art, but have recently added an ETSY store and their own website, BDIdesignsstudio.com.  Feel free to view their work either place.  Keep up the great work!

Textural Fused Glass Mosaics SATURDAY 9am-11:30 OR SUNDAY 9am-11:30

When you're a glass fuser, you end up saving lots of scraps because you can use them again and again. But, are you running out of ideas to help you use those scraps? Then, you need to try your hand at fused glass mosaics!  No Days Artist and Instructor Carrie Strope Sohayda will show you how to use No Days Thinfuse to turn multiple kiln firings into just one.  We’ll create a faux tack fuse without the kiln. You’ll also learn tips for working with frits that keep it in place, even if you have to drive your piece to the kiln!

Painting with Frit SATURDAY 2pm-4:30pm OR SUNDAY 2pm-4:30pm

Learn how to control frits to make a detailed, layered design in fused glass. We’ll talk about adding depth by mixing different textures and discuss the guidelines for color blending to create successful custom frit mixes. Learn how to create color reactions and avoid surprises. Patterns will be provided in class.

The AAE Glass Art Studio in Cape Coral, will be Closed March 26th-31st

The AAE Glass Art Studio staff will be making the trip across the country to Las Vegas for the Glass Craft & Bead Expo in late March.  The studio located in Cape Coral, Florida will be closed from March 26th until March 31st and will re-open to the public on Tuesday April 1st.
AAEGlass.com will be filling orders as usual during this time.

We have attended this expo for the past few years and this will be Tanya's second time teaching two sold out workshops.  This trip is important to AAE Glass and our students as it gives us a chance to review new products, teaching styles and more.  By educating ourselves on new products, Tanya can develop new classes and techniques to share at the AAE Glass Art Studio in Cape Coral, Florida, or in DVD form or as a FREE Saturday video.  Anyone who follows what Tanya and AAE Glass have been doing in the glass world will benefit from our trip to Las Vegas.
