Show and Tell - Julia Roberts

My name is Julie Roberts and I am a fused glass artist in Tucson, Arizona.  I have to say that I LOVE your decals! They are fun and easy to use...and add so much excitement to my jewelry pieces! Thank you for such great products!
I am very interested in your offer to "show and tell" my jewelry! What a great opportunity!
I have been working exclusively with fused glass for about 3 years. It all started because I am a certified PMC artisan and loved the look of the glass fused with PMC but was overwhelmed by the prices of the pieces available "ready made". I knew that my kiln could be used for firing glass as well as the metal clay...so I started experimenting!  Lots of mistakes, cracked and hazy glass, tears and frustration...and I continue to learn more every day!  It is always so exciting to open up the kiln to see what is in store for me...many more happy results these days! I have traded in my PMC supplies for a grinder, drill press and glass saw and work only with the glass now! I started selling my items on etsy last fall(jewel2jule.etsy.com) and I am very happy with the response I have received. Its a great community and always helping me strive to be a better artist! When I happened upon aaeglass.com I was just overjoyed at the possibilities I saw in each decal!  I look forward to the mail each time I place an order and can't wait until I can place another one! Thank you so much and keep up the great ideas!

Making small fused glass cabochons for earrings.

Here is a simple trick on making small fused glass cabochons for earrings or other embellishments. Cut 1/2" glass squares. Use only 2 if you are using 3mm glass. Use 3 if you are using 2mm thin glass. Simply cut the squares (a strip cutter will allow to make lots of these fast!) and add a tiny dab of glue to the bottom square. Place the top squares off center as shown. If adding a third layer set the third off set from the middle one. The corners will melt into a rounded circular cab. Little or no grinding is needed.

Show and Tell - Anna Blair

I would like to introduce you to Anna Blair. You can see her work at ETSY, ARTFIRE and FUNKY FINDS

My name is Anna Blair (ab2255's dichroic glass works).  For 38 years I taught in a local High School, teaching inner-city students commercial art.  I love art, and enjoyed teaching all phases.  As a treat to the students and myself, I always stuck a little fine art in the commercial art curriculum.  Now that I've retired, I can devote more time to doing work that intrigues me, such as hot glass.  After I retired, I reincarnated a thirty year old jewelry kiln by rewiring it, and have been exploring hot glass since then.

One thing that defines me is tenacity.  I'm simply driven to do what I do.  When I paint, I stay up all night working on the painting.  So actually glass is a good choice.  I can put it in the kiln and fire it, then I can't touch it (or open the door) for eight hours or more... that way I get some sleep! lol.

I live in Fort Worth, Texas, "Where the West Begins" is where I live.  It's a large city, but with a western flavor.  Not as sophisticated as Dallas, but more earthy and friendly.  The weather is mild, except in the summer- it can get pretty hot.  We have a few cold days in the winter, with snow once or twice every year or two.  Generally, it's nice enough to enjoy the outdoors year round.

The best advice I can give any emerging artist is to stay the course.  Believe in yourself, and work hard to make the best product you can.

I believe a carefully made product made with love and care in the U.S. benefits artists from all walks of life.  It not only helps the economy for that artist and his/her family, but it nourishes the spirit of both the artist and the recipient of his or her work.  It's a win/win.

Thank you for sharing Anna and good luck with your glass.
