Tip #5 - Craft Show Season

With Christmas just a few months away, craft show season is upon us. Labor Day typically kicks off a long stretch of craft shows across the country, which culminate with Christmas. We have done many craft shows and fairs in our day, but haven't done any in a few years.

We get questions every week about tips on how to best prepare for a craft show. To be honest, we are not the best source of information, because we don't participate in craft shows as often as other artist friends.

So for this weeks tip, we are asking for your help. If you have any tips or suggestions on how to run a smooth booth at a craft fair, please click on the comment button directly below and share with us. I understand artist don't want to give away any secrets and we understand. We are just looking for suggestions on organization, display techniques and other general information.

If you are in an upcoming craft show, click the comment button below and tell us when and where. We have a diverse group of artists on our blog and I'm sure they would love to see local artists if at all possible. So take advantage of the FREE promotion.

Be sure to stock up on your dichroic glass fusing supplies and decals for Christmas season. It will be here before you know it.

  1. I just received the decals that I ordered from you, I can't wait to try them out! I have a show on Oct 4th in Chapel Hill, NC (I will be displaying my pottery only at this show.)

  2. I have been working so hard on getting prepared for a craft show in Washington,Pa., the Covered Bridge Festival. Craft shows are really popular in my neck of the woods.. I fill up my schedule with shows throughout Christmas because I do so well at them. I love this time of year!

The only suggestions I have are:
1.take somebody with you to help you when you get slammed with customers. It will help you keep track of your items and it also helps the time fly by!
2.depending on how early it is, bring a cup (or maybe a thermos) of coffee!!
3.try not to walk around and browse.. you'll end up spending money!

  3. Thanks Kitty and Elisabeth. We wish you both the best of luck at your craft shows. Who else has a craft show coming up? Any craft shows in the Chicago area?

  4. I just posted last week with my Fall Craft show to-do list here:
My first show of the season is in 2 weeks, the Strange Folk Festival in O'Fallon, IL. It's definitely my favorite event of the year. I have applied to 4 other shows and I'm waiting to hear if I get in.

  5. You can check out some of the comments posted on my blog with a few tips etc. Hope they help. :)
