15% Off AAE Glass Silver Settings and Decals

As you can see AAE Glass just received some of our most popular silver settings.  We thank everyone for their patience and to add to that thank you, we are giving you 15% off all DECALS and SILVER SETTINGS through the weekend.

COUPON CODE: 15SILVER (no spaces)

We are standing by to ship your order TODAY!  We will have these at your front door in just a few short days.

Here is an example of efficiency.  When Tanya first started working with these silver findings, she would order the findings, make the glass to fit the findings while they were in transit and the day she received the findings, she added the glass and they were ready to go.  Her customers were always kept happy with prompt service!

If you want to see a slide show of techniques you will learn in Tanya Veit's Extreme Glass Fusing Workshop, click HERE.  Tanya is now teaching in her new studio, complete with top of the line, kilns, saws and equipment, located at 1228 Lafayette St. Cape Coral, Fl 33904. ph: 239-471-7724.  We are closed Sunday, Monday and periodically for private workshops.  Give us a call to set up a meeting today! 10am -7pm.

Have a great day fusers!

AAE Glass Appreciates Your Patience

Glass Art Will Change When You Walk Through These Doors

AAE Glass would like to update you on our progress and what we are doing to better serve you.  First off, a huge thank you to everyone who has wished us well and supported us as we have grown at a tremendous pace these past few years.  We are here because of you and it is you we are here to serve.  It goes to show that customer service, fresh knowledge and innovative products are in high demand.  Myself and Tanya always strive to answer your questions personally, in a timely manner and we ask you to bear with us as we spend the next 2 weeks opening our studio and hosting anyone and everyone who would like to stop by and say hello.  We would be happy to spend time with you while you pick our brains and we pick yours.

While we are opening the studio, we ask that all emailers be patient for answers as our time is being spent making the best teaching facility available to the glass community.  Not only are we offering glass classes, but we are going to offer classes for artists of all mediums.  Canvas painting, faux finishing, metal work and beyond!  When you see the artwork on the walls of our studio, your jaw is going to drop, it is that simple.  It is my job to convince our muralists to teach classes in our studio and I won't take no for an answer.  They are so talented and have such a passion for what they do that it would be criminal for them not to share it with those who want to learn.  I am going to make this happen for anyone who wants to learn what they have to offer.  This I promise!

We have been working tirelessly the past few weeks to make sure we have the best equipment available for you to use as we expand our Extreme Fusing series of classes.  We have had 100 sign ups for beginner classes, X1 and X2 in 3 weeks time!  This is all Tanya Veit!  If you have had the opportunity to take a workshop with Tanya, you know what kind of energy and passion she brings every single day.  She could be teaching algebra and people would want to come back for more!  She blows my mind sometimes...Most of the time!

The Extreme series of glass classes is here to stay and Cape Coral, Florida is the place to learn.  We will make sure you have the best environment to learn and expand your glass knowledge, but as important, we are going to make sure you have fun doing it.  Tanya, Mark, John and Molly are going to make sure you enjoy yourself in Cape Coral.  If you are bringing a significant other who isn't interested in glass, Mark will take them golfing, to the beach, to a local watering hole to watch football or anything else...within reason.  One thing this group does is have fun, no matter the circumstance.  We are so excited to offer our knowledge, expertise and anything else you ask of us.  We are full of energy and are here to serve.  As I said before, this is just the beginning.  We have no preconceived notions when it comes to this business.  We are fresh, going to do things professionally, have fun doing it and let the chips fall where they may.  If our students are happy, we are happy.

Again, thank you to each and every person who has helped spread the word about AAE Glass!  We have built this business through grass roots effort, word of mouth, hard work and following through on what we say we are going to do.  Simply the same qualities I look for in anyone I am going to do business with.

We look forward to seeing you at the grand opening on Saturday November 19th at AAE Glass Studio located at 1228 Lafayette St. Cape Coral, Fl 33904 from 5-9pm.  Live music, food provided by chef John and adult beverages.  If you can't make it then, we will see you in an Extreme glass fusing workshop or anytime you find time to walk through our doors.  If my excitement doesn't resonate in this blog post, then come meet us in person, you won't be disappointed.

90 and 96 COE Scrap packs and Dichroic Glass Making Tutorials

Tanya Veit hand picked these brand new 90 coe and 96 coe dichroic scrap packs.  These are the combinations she uses in her own dichroic glass jewelry as well as in her "Extreme Glass Fusing" workshops.  If you are familiar at all with Tanya's work, you know how well thought out these scrap packs are.  Here is a LINK to a video tutorial using dichroic glass scrap packs.

Several of our clients encase their glass art in our silver plated settings.  These silver plated settings are the best quality on the market for the price.   These findings are sure to add style and value to your glass work.

Our vast combinations of glass fusing decals have been a hit.  The combinations are endless when combining single decals and decal sheets with your wearable dichroic glass art.

Be sure to take a look at our post about selling your dichroic glass jewelry using social media marketing. .If you have any questions, please post to the blog entry and Mark will answer your marketing question ASAP.

Also, the last tutorial I will share with you today is a very popular one.  I have received several questions regarding gluing bails, findings, etc.  Here is a LINK to a trick Tanya uses to secure bails to glass.

Finished Glass Jewelry Pendants from a Student

I wanted to share some work from a student named Ed.  Ed took my workshop at Firebug Studios in Venice, Florida.  I am really impressed with the painting and detail on these pieces.  Ed really put some thought into this and adapted the painting technique perfectly.  He even combined some glass fusing decals in with the paint.

This is just one of the many techniques you will learning my two day "Extreme Glass Fusing" workshop.

Thanks for sharing Ed and let me know if I can be of any assistance in the future.

Here is a list of the workshop classes coming up.  There are only a few seats at each location available, so be sure to book yours today!

Dichroic Glass Jewelry Artist of the Week Mandy Codd

Our very first dichroic glass jewelry artist of the week is Mandy Codd of www.dichroic-creations.com

Mandy will be featured in our weekly newsletter and she has also won 10 tree of life decals. You can visit her store by clicking on the above link. The pictures seen here are dichroic glass pieces Mandy made using fusible decals from our store. If you would like to be considered for artist of the week, simply send us an email at info@aaeglass.com. We will randomly select a new artist from the submissions we receive.

Here is some background info from Mandy about her and her business. Congratulations Mandy!

***My name is Mandy Codd, I'm a glass artist living on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
I have an extreme passion for dichroic glass.
A lot of thought for colours and design goes into each one of my handmade
Dichroic Creations.
I would have to say I am very addicted to glass and don't think I could ever lose the excitement that I feel when I open the kiln after each firing.
I am a stay at home Mum and have been creating my pendants for 2 1/2 years now, I work around my three Children, their ages range from 3 to 13.
I am always learning something new and just having fun experimenting too. I was so very excited to have been able to purchase these new decals and look forward to creating more beautiful pendants with them - my next lot are already in the kiln LOL.***

Tip #3 Keeping bubbles out of your dichroic glass jewelry pendants and decals

AAE GLASS DECALS
One of the biggest enemies to any dichroic glass fused pendant jeweler is the dreaded bubble. No matter how hard we try, sometimes a bubble creeps into our pieces and is it unavoidable. It is frustrating when working with fusible glass water slide decals and a bubble appears just above the decal. Hopefully we can offer you a few tips on how to avoid the curse of the bubble in your decals. While there is no sure fire way to avoid a bubble, following these 4 steps should help.

1-Once the decal is applied, blot out any excess water with a paper towel.
2-When the excess water is removed, wrap the paper towel around your fore finger and GENTLY brush the entire decal design after the excess water is removed. Be sure to smooth out any wrinkles or folds in the decal.
3-You must let the decal dry for at least 12 hours before firing the glass.
4-***HOT TIP*** If you are in a hurry and can't wait 12 hours to fire, use a blow dryer at close range for 20 minutes.

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at info@aaeglass.com.

***Stay tuned for a complete new style of decal that AAE Glass has developed.  They will be released in early 2014!  We have received the proofs and Tanya has adjusted to her specifications.  They are currently in print and when available, will be announced to all.***

Help is available

We have received a few emails from glass artists asking for help and advice with their jewelry making. We are more than happy to answer any questions you have and we welcome them. The email address is aaeglass@gmail.com

Several dichroic glass artists are using these fusible decals for the first time. We can advise you how to eliminate air bubbles as well as offer advice on what background colors work best for each decal. I enjoy helping people make the best jewelry they can. There is no such thing as a dumb question. If you run into any problems at all, email us at aaeglass@gmail.com

I will be posting tip #3 this week and it will focus on how to eliminate air bubbles (see bubble in the top of the calla lily picture above). We will get into more detail about this in tip #3.

Also, if you want to email us about being a featured artist, there is still time. We have had several inquiries about this but people are still in the process of making their pieces so pictures are not available.

I have stocked my store with several new pieces this weekend. http://www.artfire.com/users/AAE-artglass

Thank you again for following our blog.

Tip #2 Photographing Dichroic Glass Jewelry

The business of making and selling dichroic glass jewelry has many steps. None more important than photographing the jewelry so it sells fast and for a good price. Many times the difference between making a sale and not making a sale is the quality of the photo. I wanted to share some of my experiences with you, what works, what doesn't.

I have tried everything I can think of to improve my pictures. I have taken thousands of pictures over the years. I have spent hundreds of dollars on photo domes, photo cubes, cloud domes etc, and I wasn't happy with any of the pictures. After talking to a family friend, during Thanksgiving dinner, he gave me the best picture taking advice I have ever received. I started doing this 2 years ago and it has never failed...You can reach in the couch cushions or under your car seat to come up with the $2.99 it will cost you to purchase this top notch photo apparatus. Don't laugh. Are you ready? I purchased a gallon of milk, ate a few bowls of cereal and followed these five easy steps:

1.) Soak the labels off your empty milk gallon.
2.) Cut the milk gallon in half all the way around.
3.) Place your jewelry piece on your desired background.
4.) Place the milk carton over the jewelry piece and your background, place the lens of your digital camera in the top of the milk carton and click away.
5.) Take your photos outside. The best time of day is 2-5p.m. when it is slightly overcast or even a little shady. Direct sunlight is not good, it will only over-expose your photos.
If you look at our pictures in the store, they are clear and sharp with no glare spots. These have all been taken with the handy milk carton. http://www.artfire.com/users/AAE-artglass

So if you have a taste for Lucky Charms and need an apparatus to take great pictures, head out to your local grocer and pick up a gallon of milk. You won't be sorry :)

The following items have been released or will be released this Saturday. Please follow our blog to take advantage of 20% off your water slide decal orders from Saturday 8/2 through Monday 8/4. http://www.artfire.com/users/GlassDecals_FusingSupplies Purchase your decals, enter "blog 20" in the note to seller section and we will send you a revised paypal invoice.

1-Red and 22 kt. gold lily decal.
2-Red rose decal
3-Large and small 22 kt. gold butterfly mini sheet.
4-Large and small yellow single rose decals.
5-Round and square wine bottle stopper blanks.
6-Various sized wholesale cords and jewelry necklaces.

Mighty Tree of Life decal will be available tomorrow at 12pm CST

Good evening bloggers. The time is here. The new custom MIGHTY TREE OF LIFE is here. Almost. At noon CST tomorrow, our decal will be released for purchase. Click this link to access the store http://www.artfire.com/users/GlassDecals_FusingSupplies I wanted to let our blog followers know first. Also, all current members, as of today, will receive 10% off their next purchase of jewelry and/or decals. After you pay for your item through paypal, please send us a note that you are a blog follower and we will refund your 10% at that time.

Here are some pictures of some dichroic glass pendants I made using this exact decal. I wanted to make a tree of life that looked very solid, like an oak tree. I am very happy with the turnout. The birds on the first one were from a different decal that I combined.

I hope your creative juices are flowing. You will be able to make beautiful jewelry with this custom image.

Stay tuned for Tip #2 on photographing you jewelry to sell.

Ciao
