Phyllis Berger Haines has been fusing glass for over 8 years.  I have enjoyed talking and sharing information with Phyllis for a couple years now.  I finally got to meet her, in person, at my "Extreme Glass Fusing Workshop."  The link to her shop is above.  She has a great range of glass art and jewelry.  The 2 pieces pictured above were started at the workshop and perfected in her studio.  Phyllis has an uncanny thirst for fused glass knowledge.

Las Vegas Glass and Bead Convention

Hello Bloggers,


I apologize for the lack of posts lately.  I was in Las Vegas at the Glass and Bead show.  If you make and/or sell dichroic glass jewelery or use any kind of glass material or tools, I recommend you make the trip next year. 


There are so many new tools, glass types and techniques out to make your job easier and more creative.  The South Point Hotel and Casino did a great job hosting the event. 


My favorite part was meeting the many companies that we deal with on a daily basis, face to face.  From studios that Tanya is teaching at, to several companies who sell our original glass fusing decals.  We had a blast.  While I participated as a guest this year, we will participate with a booth next year.

COLOR ME BAD DECALS AND PAINT

Tanya Veit's Extreme Fused Glass Jewelry Workshop has added more dates in Houston Texas.  April 18th and 19th HARMONY STAINED GLASS STUDIOS has added a 3rd workshop due to popular demand.  The first 2 workshops filled up in 48 hours so be sure to call Joyce at 866-998-3381 or email info@harmonystainedglass.com to book your seat. 


AAE GLASS released a brand new fusing decal sheet that you can paint any color you want, PERMANENTLY.  Tanya has been teaching this technique in her workshop and the response has been great.  This is a perfect opportunity to get a leg up on your competition and work with a new technique all together.  The option to paint your decals any color you want, including metallic gold and metallic silver, gives you an infinite number of color combination's from your background, to frit, to decals.  Most fusing decals were either black or white.  Now you can color any of AAE GLASS' decals and fire them permanently.  


Tanya's class is very organized and packed with information.  You will receive a kit on the first morning that has each project outlined and separated into its own container.  You will get to keep these notes and containers upon completion.  Tanya comes from a family of school teachers and has a delivery that is very conducive to teaching these glass fusing techniques.  To view a list of all workshops available around the country as well as testimonials from students in past workshops visit AAE GLASS.

OOOOO, OOO, OOO, OOO, OOOOOOO....

If you remember Color Me Bad from the 90's, you won't be able to get this jingle out of your head, my apologies.

We thought we would have some fun with our new product. These decals and paints can be permanently fired on your dichroic glass jewelry.  Never before has a decal been available that you can completely customize with your own colors. We have 9 paints available for you to choose from.  This opens up a whole new level of creativity when you think about color schemes and background colors.  

BE SURE TO LET THE PAINTS DRY FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE FIRING!!! Otherwise the paints will burn off. Fire at 325F for 30-35 minutes to make permanent.

Tanya teaches some unique techniques involving these paints and decals in her workshops across the country.  This is only one project of many, but this one is a hit!

Here are some guidelines for using these fusing decals and glass paints with your glass jewelry.

STEP ONE: Soak and apply decal to finished glass piece, allow to dry for 12 hours and fire to low fire decal schedule.

STEP TWO: Apply glass paints to decal areas with a BBQ wood skewer (found at any local grocery store.)

STEP THREE: Allow paints to dry for 24 hours.

STEP FOUR: Fire piece to 325 degrees F for 30 minutes.

DESIGN TIP: Use diluent to thin paints for a watercolor effect. Mix your own colors and use white to lighten up paints.
