MEET THE JUDGES

PATTY GRAY: Patty has been making her mark in the fused glass world for decades.  We had the honor of hosting Patty at the AAE Glass Art Studio a couple years ago and she left a great impression with our artist base.  Hopefully another visit is in the cards in the future!  Don't miss a chance to take her class.

DAVID ALCALA:  David is another glass artist who has been producing breathtaking work for decades.  We have also had the pleasure of hosting David here in Cape Coral, Florida and will be doing so again later this year.  David offers several different techniques that have changed the way people work with frit.

PAUL TARLOW: Rounding out our fused glass art triumvirate is Paul Tarlow.  Paul is an accomplished studio artist and instructor as well as the owner of fusedglass.org.  Paul has parlayed his experiences with fused glass art into an informational website dedicated to fused glass that is second to none.
You can get lost for hours, in a good way, soaking up glass fusing knowledge on his site.

Cape Coral, Florida Leads the Way in 2013 Employment Outlook

AAE Glass has had the pleasure of calling Cape Coral, Florida home for the past three years.  We have operated the AAE Glass Art Studio in the heart of downtown Cape Coral for the past year and have made it a priority to get involved with the community.  It is important to us as small business owners to portray the city in the best light whenever possible, that is why we are proud to share this article from Forbes Magazine with you. 

Cape Coral/Fort Myers Florida is forecasting a 23% net job increase in 2013.  This is the highest number in the nation and the city is taking the lead very seriously.  Lee county, Florida was one of the hardest hit counties in America when the real estate bubble burst a few years ago.  After listening to political debates these past few months, no matter which side you are on, it is refreshing to read positive news, such as this.  If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting Cape Coral, Florida, take advantage if the opportunity presents itself.  For our glass artist friends located right here in SW Florida, lets make an effort to support art of all kinds and make Cape Coral, Florida a hotbed for artists of all mediums.

AAE Glass, Tanya Veit and Olympic Kilns have partnered to bring you a glass fusing contest for the ages!  Those of you who have had an opportunity to learn or work with Tanya Veit know she doesn't do anything unless it is over the top.  This contest is no different.  AAE Glass has built its business and reputation on helping up and coming glass artists gain access to the knowledge, tools and supplies it takes to grow.  Thanks to Olympic Kilns generous donation of a FREE hotbox kiln and Tanya Veit's donation of a FREE Extreme Fusing workshop you have a chance to advance your glass art business for FREE!  The unique part of this contest is every participant is a winner because of the FREE publicity you and your glass art will receive as a result.

CONTEST RULES AND SUBMISSIONS

(Be sure to submit a complete and organized email with all of the below information)

1-Email ONE entry to info@aaeglass.com with the subject being "Contest entry for (your name)"

2-Include ONE picture that represents your glass art piece the best. You WILL NOT be able to replace your original submission in any way, shape or form, so be sure you are happy when you hit the send button.

3-Include ONE link to an online site that you would like glass lovers to view. (optional)

4-Include a brief bio (1 or 2 paragraphs) about you, your entry piece and your business, be sure to include how you incorporated AAE Glass products in your piece and/or an experience you had in a Tanya Veit taught workshop.  

5-Entries will be listed on the blog in the order received, so the sooner you submit your entry, the more views you will get.

6-The contest will run until January 7th, so there is plenty of time to get your submission in. 

***We do not want to limit your creativity when entering this contest.  You can submit any glass art piece (big or small, jewelry or sculptural) that uses an AAE Glass decal, silver setting or technique taught in a Tanya Veit workshop that you attended.  AAE Glass has created the only low fire, color decals on the market that will fire on dark glass.  We also have a line of large, low fire decals that can be used with bowls, plates, vases, tiles and more.  Our glass fusing decals and silver settings can be found at any leading distributor in the world, so feel free to ask them for their complete line of AAE Glass products.

Featured Artist Crystel Cabrera of CCDesigns Jewelry

AAE Glass wants to introduce you to Crystel Cabrera of CCDesigns Jewelry.  Crystel is highly inspired by nature in Florida.  She makes her own rules and that is something we admire.  Here is more about Crystel and her beautiful glass jewelry.

 

 LIVING IN FLORIDA, I find nature to be my constant inspiration, from the colors of the ocean and its tropical surroundings to the golden brilliance of the sun. I like unusual colors and designs and love creating one of a kind pieces. Embellishments and unique findings add playfulness and excitement to my pieces. I love all of my creations and it is sometimes hard to part with them, if you are buying one I hope you love it as much as I do.

 

FLORIDA JEWELRY DESIGNER, CRYSTEL CABRERA built her career in glass fusing by following her own set of rules.  With a commitment to remain true to her vision it has allowed her the ability to change with the times while keeping her designs pure.
Born in Delaware, Crystel 
spent her childhood surrounded 
by musicians and artists. Her biggest influence was her grandmother, who introduced her to sewing and art.
With aspirations to be an artist and a love for art it laid the foundation for creativity and inspiration, which is evident in her designs.
Attending the ART INSTITUTE OF PHILADELPHIA for graphic design in 1982, she moved to Florida to pursue a career in design. Working in the publishing industry as a Creative Director, she was again surrounded by other creative individuals who motivated her to open her own graphic design business.
While successful for many years in graphic design, it was time for Crystel’s next chapter, getting back to her artistic roots.  After exploring many mediums of art, she stumbled upon glass fusing while vacationing in Key West. Intrigued by the process of fusing glass by melting it at high temperatures in 
a kiln, Crystel was hooked.
Inspired by Florida’s natural surroundings, Crystel works 
with different types of glass combinations to achieve unique, brilliantly colored art to wear. From necklaces and bracelets, to earrings and pendants, each piece of art is individually hand-crafted to create her one-of-a-kind signature pieces.
